With Fleet Lifecycle already patched to 9.1.1.0, the next component in my environment is SDDC Lifecycle. This post covers that patch, from setting the target version through prechecks and on to the completed task.

Change the target version first

Change the target version first, so that Fleet Lifecycle builds a plan against all of the components it manages. That is how you get the table below, with the component name, the upgrade path, and the Actions button where you can trigger prechecks and then an upgrade or patch.

Since we would like to go to 9.1.1.0, let's choose that version.

Choosing 9.1.1.0 as the target version

Select the version and click Set Version.

Check binary availability

You may notice the required binary list is populated. Click Check Binary Availability to see whether the required binaries are available or not.

Run prechecks

Once that is done, select SDDC Lifecycle as the component and click Run Prechecks.

Prechecks are in progress.

Once the prechecks are completed, we are good to proceed with the patch. In my run the workflow came back with a result status of Passed across all five checks, the component package staged and staging checks, the Virtual Center precheck, and the single-component backup prechecks.

Patching complete

The SDDC Lifecycle is now patched to 9.1.1.0. You can confirm it on the Components tab, where SDDC lifecycle and Fleet lifecycle both report a 9.1.1.0 build while the remaining components are still on 9.1.0.0.
